ART third in Time top 5

The American Repertory Theatre was just named third in a Time magazine list of five best regional theaters. The criteria were: a focus on new work, a commitment to the basics, the bringing of new plays and artists to the national stage, and the serving of local audiences. ART follows the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, which ranked No. 1, and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland at No.2.
And speaking of ART: Robert Sella, who plays the lead in ''Pericles,'' will miss three performances because of a death in the family. His understudy, Oliver Henzler, who plays Lysimachus, will take over. Sella returns Wednesday.
